Punkin Head

I have been looking for a pumpkin hat pattern for my girls and I just wasn't finding one that was everything I wanted. None were quite perfect so I came up with one that works for me. First I made a hat for my younger daughter and then improved on it when I made a hat for my older girl.

The yarn that I used was Cascade Yarns Cash Vero Aran. It is amazing
ly buttery soft, perfect for hats for little heads. The colors I chose are Rust for the pumpkin and Light Olive for the stem and leaf. The leaf pattern I used is the just a leaf pattern.

Gauge is approximately 5 spi in stockinette.
To get that gauge I used size 6 needles, both circular needles and dpns. I used size 7 dpns to knit the leaf.

Abbreviations:
k: knit
p: purl
ssk: slip one stitch as if to knit, slip second stitch as if to purl, knit these two stitches together through the back loops
k2tog: knit 2 stitches together as one

Instructions:
Cast on in a multiple of 10. For my gauge of 5 spi I would cast on 60 for a 0-3 month size, 70 for 3-12 month, 80 for toddler, 90 for child and 100 to make an adult size.
Join in the round and *k8, p2* around. Repeat this row until your hat is the desired length. When in doubt make it longer rather than shorter because you can always roll the brim up. I suggest about 4.5" for 0-3 month size, 5" for 3-12 month, 6" for toddler and 7+" for the child and adult sizes.
Decrease as follows.
Row 1: *ssk, k4, k2tog, p2* repeat around
Row 2: *k6, p2* repeat around
Row 3: *ssk, k2, k2tog, p2* repeat around
Row 4: *k4, p2* repeat around
Row 5: *ssk, k2tog, p2* repeat aroundRow 6: Switch to stem color and knit around.
Row 7: *k2, k2tog* repeat around
Row 8: knit around
Row 9: *k1, k2tog* repeat around
Row 10: knit around
Row 11: k2tog around until only 4 stitches remain.
Knit in i-cord until stem is desired length, approximately 2 inches. On last row of i-cord knit the 2 middle stitches together to decrease to a 3 stitch i-cord. At this point you can add the leaf from the pattern linked above. After binding off the leaf, you can attach the base of the leaf to the base of the stem making a loop of the i-cord as seen in the picture below. If you choose not to add a leaf to the stem then just end i-cord stem at desired length, cut yarn and thread through stitches and secure yarn to inside of hat.

And modeled by my older daughter.

It's been a while

Oops, sorry that I haven't updated in so long. But on the bright side that means lots of pictures!

First up is a Hudson Hat that I knit for my SIL. I really hope she likes it as much as I do!

And next is a yymn in the Aligator Knits Girly Ooga Booga colorway. I love how these worked up. The ruffles are just enough to be girly without being overwhelming.

And then another yymn that is already at it's new home. These are Nurturing Threads Hummingbird colorway.

And then probably my favorite pair of yymn longies yet. These are also already at their new home. It is SugarBubbie's Primise.

And then lastly, one of my current wip's. Family Roots Grapefruit Love. I'm hoping to have these finished very soon and then they will be on their way home to a little girl. These will be her first longies.
And that's it for now. Lots of pictures, not much else to say. ;)

Today's goal was accomplished!

My goal for today was to finish the Kaia Babydoll dress that I was knitting from Elliebelly Florida Vacation. And I finished it!

Here it is:

Are you ready for some pictures?

I finished up MM Irish Meadow. It didn't behave as well as I would have liked on the legs, but it's done now and didn't turn out too bad. Here they are.
And here are all 3 pairs of longies together.
And now I'm currently working on SugerBubbie Promise. It could not be knitting up any better. These have just been a joy to knit and are flying off the needles. I took this picture this morning and since then I've finished the first leg and have several inches done on the second leg. I think I may try to get them finished tomorrow.

And lastly, I'm slowly working on this pair. It's This is How Much I Love You on Marr Haven and is becoming small/medium longies for a fundraiser. I'll post a little more info on that later.
And of course this isn't counting all the things in the works for my own daughter. I have a dress that NEEDS to get finished. It is my #1 priority for tomorrow, if I get done with it then I will finish up the SB longies. Plus I still have her Requiem sweater to finish, and the yarn for the matching longies got here so now I have them to do. And yarn for a couple more pairs of longies for her as well. But I also got 2 packages of yarn from customers today and so I will be very busy. But it's something that I love doing so I don't mind. That just means that you need to stay tuned for more pictures.

Keepin' busy is the name of the game

I've been knitting up a storm recently. My husband is away for a bit so I've been knitting to keep busy, especially in the evenings. First off here is MM Irish Meadow as a wip. Somehow I thought this colorway had a lot more green in it, but I still really like it. It's for a customer, the last of the longies I'm knitting for her in trade for some yummy yarn.

And I'm still working on my daughter's sweater. I've actually gotten a bit more done since this picture was taken. I'm lacking the motivation to work on it right now because I don't know what I want to do for the bottom edge. The pattern calls for garter stitch, but that is far from my favorite trim look so I'm still debating something else. I think I may look for a simple lace pattern.

And then lastly, here is MM Winter Pear all finished up. I really thought I was going to run out of colorway for these, but I got by and still had just a smidge left over. I did the cuffs in trim color because I was so afraid I was going to be short on colorway and to give them a bit of interest I did a diagonal cuff and really like how that turned out.

Well, I'm off to knit some more. I really want to get those Irish Meadow longies finished up soon.

I've been busy.

First off the FO (finished object) picture of Whirligig. I love how they turned out. I made the pocket nice and big for all kinds of little boy treasures.

I've also gotten some more knitting done on Winter Pear. I've actually gotten a bit further since this picture was taken. I want to get these finished up but I've been slacking on them. Maybe I'll force myself to work on them tonight instead of my other current wip.
And here is my other current wip. It doesn't look like much now, but it will be a kimono sweater for my daughter. And then eventually it will have matching brown longies. and if I have enough yarn left over maybe even a hat. Such a sweet winter set for my little girl.

And in other news I'm also now a licensed Hudson Hat knitter. I love Hudson Hats, such cute, sweet stocking caps.

And a few action shots to show just how cute it is on.
